Black Lines on Copies There are a few possibilities when it comes to what is causing those black lines on your copies. The first step is to check the original document. Folds and pasted-on sections can cause faint lines. Adjusting the contrast and brightness can help to improve the appearance of these areas. Thin lines at the end of the page can be a result of the original being smaller than the copy. By setting the copier to enlarge the image, the edges of the original will not appear on the copy. Lines only when copying? One of the most common causes of lines is a result of debris on the glass. Another area to clean is the ‘small glass’, which is the thin strip of glass beside the ‘large glass’. Preventative maintenance – when copying, always ensure the original document is completely dry and clean. Lines when copying and printing? Try cleaning the drum chargers. Most modern copiers have devices for cleaning the chargers. Please refer to you machines operating manual If lines are still occurring on your copies, there could be an internal issue.
